Individual Trip With Transfer
If you don't feel like driving a rental car, especially considering the poor condition of the roads in Costa Rica, we have the solution for you. A tour through beautiful Costa Rica with transfers by minibus. These air-conditioned vans will take you from hotel to hotel. Alternatively, you can opt for a trip with a private driver.
All the following trips are sample trips. You can customize the trip according to your wishes. It should be your vacation.
5. Tour for horse riding enthusiasts

HOLIDAY TRIP WITH PRIVATE DRIVER
During this trip, you will have a private driver at your disposal for 9 days with a spacious 4WD vehicle.
Day 1: Transfer from the airport to your hotel in downtown San Jose.
Day 2: You have the opportunity to visit the city.
Day 3: With an international group, you will go by bus and then by boat to Tortuguero. A fully catered excursion. An optional excursion to the turtle beach during the nesting season (July to September) is also available and must be paid on-site. All meals and further excursions are included. In the afternoon, you will visit the village by boat and walk back along the beach.
Day 4: You have two excursions, including one by boat through Tortuguero National Park.
Day 5: You will return to Guapiles by boat and then by bus. Here, you will have a farewell lunch, and your private driver will be waiting to take you to Sarapiqui for the rest of the trip.
Day 6: In the morning, you will have an excursion where the processing of cocoa is demonstrated. Then, you will continue to the far north, 7 kilometers above Boca Tapada on the San Carlos River. All meals are included.
Day 7: You will have a boat or kayak trip on the San Carlos River and, optionally, a guided walk through the jungle or a horseback ride.
Day 8: You will head to Caño Negro, an area with wetlands.

Day 9: You will take a boat ride through the wetlands and then head to La Fortuna, near the Arenal volcano.
Day 10: In the morning, you will visit the La Fortuna waterfall. In the afternoon, you will take a walk on the old lava fields and then visit the Baldi hot springs, including a dinner buffet.
Day 11: You will travel to Monteverde, known for its cloud forest. In the early evening, you will have a night excursion through the cloud forest.
Day 12: You will have a guided walk through the cloud forest.
Days 13-16: You will head to the south coast of Nicoya to the Tango Mar beach hotel. Your private driver will leave you upon arrival.
Day 17: You will travel by interbus transfer from hotel to hotel to Alajuela, a hotel near the international airport.
Day 18: Transfer to the airport.

17 nights in mid-range hotels (lodges in Tortuguero and Boca Tapada) with breakfast included. Transfers to and from the airport. TRANSFER ROUND TRIP
Day 1: Transfer from the airport to a hotel near the airport.
Day 2: Transfer to Manuel Antonio. You will stay here for 3 nights.
Day 3/4: Stay in Manuel Antonio. Don't forget to visit the national park where you can see capuchin monkeys and sloths. (closed on Mondays)
Day 5: Transfer to Monteverde, known for its cloud forest. You will stay in Santa Elena for 3 nights.
Nevelwoud in Monteverde
Day 6/7: You can spend these days taking a walk through the park or walking on bridges over the cloud forest.
Day 8: Transfer by bus, boat (across Lake Arenal), bus to La Fortuna. You will stay for three nights at a spa and resort.
Day 9/10: You can visit the waterfall or go to one of the hot springs.
Day 11: Transfer to the south coast of Nicoya. Tango Mar Hotel.
Day 12/13: Stay at Tango Mar.
Day 14: Transfer to a hotel near the airport.
Day 15: Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
INDIVIDUAL TOUR PRICE WITH TRANSFERS
The price is based on double occupancy rooms. The price for this tour according to the description is US$ 1900 per person from December 1st to the end of April (except during the peak week between Christmas and New Year's). The price for the tour is US$ 1800 per person from May 1st to the end of November.
Included in the price:
14 nights in mid-range hotels with breakfast included. Transfers to and from the airport. Transfers by minibus: Alajuela - Manuel Antonio, Manuel Antonio - Monteverde, La Fortuna - South Nicoya, South Nicoya - Alajuela and a bus-boat-bus transfer from Monteverde to La Fortuna.
Not included:
Round-trip airfare from Amsterdam to San Jose and other meals.
Possibilities for modification or extension:
You can expand your transfer tour with a stay in Tortuguero and/or Corcovado. Or modify it by inserting one or both of these excursions instead of one of the other destinations. The excursions are accompanied by an English-speaking guide and are in group format.
EXTENSION WITH CORCOVADO
Days 1 to 14 follow the first proposal.
Day 15: Transfer to the airport. You will fly with a local flight to Drake. Tranfer to the Hotel.
Day 16: Day trip to Corcovado National Park. Two walks are on the program for this day. The first walk takes you through the pristine nature of Corcovado National Park. Upon returning, you will have lunch, a picnic at the park station. After lunch, a walk leads through the jungle to a waterfall. Here you can cool off in the clean water.
Day 17; Snorkling excursion to the island Caño. You have change to see any dolphins. Even the chance to see a whale is present.
Day 18: Transfer to Drake. You will fly further to Alajuela and have a transfer to your hotel.
Day 19: Transfer to the airport for the return flight.
Price extension in Corcovado:
US$ 1150 per person based on double rooms. Incl. the domestic flights and the stay on full board basis in Corcovado and the last night in Alajuela.
EXTENCION WITH TORTUGUERO
Day 1 to 13 remain the same as the previous proposal.
Day 14: Transfer to your hotel in San Jose. You can leave part of your luggage here because you are only allowed to bring a maximum of 12 kg per person to Tortuguero.
Tortuguero
Day 15: You will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the park, have breakfast and visit a banana plantation before arriving at the pier for further transportation by boat to Tortuguero. In the afternoon, you will make a visit to the village.
Day 16: Two excursions One is a boattour through the national park.
Day 17: Transfer to San José, and lunch will be offered on the way.
Day 18: You have this day to explore the capital, perhaps by visiting one of the museums or taking a walk around the city.
Day 19: Transfer to the airport for your return flight.
Price extension in Tortuguero:
US$ 600 per person based on double rooms. The three nights in San Jose are on a bed and breakfast basis. The Tortuguero excursion is full board Note that from July to September, green sea turtles lay their eggs on the beach in Tortuguero, and the price for the excursion during this period is $35 per person.
10-DAY HORSEBACK RIDING TRIP
Costa Rica is a real horse country. In every town you can take a horse ride. There are also Topes at festivities in many places. These are processions with many horses, up to more than 2000 horses at the Tope in San José on the second day of Christmas. At these processions, both the rider and the horse look their best. For horse lovers, we have put together a special trip. All rides are with local guides.
Day 1: Transfer to your hotel near the airport.
Day 2: Hotel - hotel bus transfer to Monteverde. Monteverde is known for its cloud forest. In the afternoon, you will be picked up for a walk over bridges above the cloud forest, and in the evening, you will have a night walk through the Monteverde Biological Reserve.
Day 3: Horseback ride to La Fortuna. You descend from Monteverde to the Arenal Lake at Rio Chiquito. Here you board a boat for a trip to the dam in Lake Arenal. Further by microbus to La Fortuna.
Day 4: Horseback ride to the La Fortuna waterfall. In the afternoon, a walk on the old lava fields and a visit to the hot springs of Baldi including a dinner buffet.
Day 5: Transfer to Sarapiqui by hotel - hotel transfer. In the afternoon, you will have a horse ride through the area.
Day 6: You have a guided walk through the La Selva Biological Reserve. In the afternoon, you can go rafting or take a boat trip on the Sarapiqui River. Stay in Sarapiqui.
Day 7: Hotel - hotel transfer to Puerto Viejo de Talamanca on the Caribbean. In the afternoon, you will have a horse ride through the area.
Day 8: A horse ride through the jungle and along the beach. Stay in Puerto Viejo.
Day 9: Hotel - hotel transfer to Alajuela, a hotel not far from the airport.
Day 10: Transfer to the airport.
You can also incorporate and expand this trip into a longer vacation. This trip is also possible with a rental car.
