San José: the capital of Costa Rica

The eleven sub-municipalities (distrito) of the municipality (cantón) are: Carmen, Catedral, Hatillo, Hospital, Mata Redonda, Merced, Pavas, San Francisco de Dos Ríos, San Sebastián, Uruca and Zapote.
The international airport, Juan Santamaria, is generally the starting point for most trips to this tropical country in Central America.
