Las Baulas National Park

 Immediately north of the popular Playa Tamarindo is Playa Grande, which has been used as a nesting area by leatherback turtles for centuries and now bears the name Parque Nacional Marino Las Baulas (see sea turtles page). Limited access to the beach from November to April; free during the day, not at night. The park includes 445 ha of protected beach, forest and mangr.
