TAPANTI NATIONAL PARK

Nowhere in Costa Rica does it rain as much (800 cm per year) as in this nature reserve, declared a national park in 1992. Well-maintained dirt trails run through this 6,000-hectare park that extends north of the Talamanca Mountains. people swim in the cool rivers.Because the altitude here rises from 1220 to 2400 meters, the park has a wide variety of bird and plant species (including the quetzal), but the cloud forest with its wealth of butterflies dominates.The entrance is 8 km southeast from Orosi.
